  • Faith Home Schooling

Catholic parents are considered the first educators of our children. Many of our parishioners have decided to educate their children in the Catholic faith at home. We offer home schooling materials for the education of children at home grades K-12.

All children who do not attend a Catholic School and are interested in First Communion in the second grade should recieve religious education during both first and second grade. Additionally, they will prepare for First Reconciliation and First Communion.

  • First Communion & First Reconciliation

The Eucharist is "the source and summit" of the Christian life.  The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it.

The sacrament of reconciliation and penance, often referred to as confession, is the sacrament of God’s forgiveness.

If your Catholic child is in first grade, they may be ready to accept the sacraments of the Eucharist and First Reconciliation.

Children who do not attend Catholic School should attend Religious Education for at least one year prior and the year during in order to enroll in First Communion preparation (please see options above). Children must also be Baptized and Catholic before participating in First Communion. Please see Children RCIA below.

  • Confirmation Preparation

Confirmation is the sacrament of initiation in which a baptized person receives special gifts of the Holy Spirit and is strengthened in grace.

Catholic youth in Seattle  in 7th grade or equivalent age are invited to consider preparing for Confirmation.

All non confirmed Catholics at any age above 7th grade are encouraged to enquire about being confirmed.

The next registration process will begin in the fall of 2023.

Confirmation will take place on Wednesday, November 29th at  6:30pm.

  • Adult RCIA

    What is RCIA?

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a process of initiation into the Catholic Community of Faith for persons who are seeking either baptism or if already baptized, full Communion with the Catholic Church. It is more than a course of instruction. It is a process of conversion and initiation into the Catholic Community designed to meet the unique needs of the participants. Some parishioners form the RCIA team here at Assumption and the atmosphere is relaxed and informative giving participants the opportunity to explore their own interests and concerns.

    Who is RCIA for?

Non Catholics who want to find out more about the Catholic Faith

    • Those who want to join the Catholic Church through Baptism, or Profession of Faith
    • Those who were baptized Catholic as infants but never received religious education, Confirmation or First Eucharist

    All are Welcome!

    When is RCIA?

RCIA takes place September - June

    Beginning Sept. 27, 2023

    Wednesday evenings - 7:00pm-8:30pm

    Where is RCIA?

In the basement near the church offices - St. Joseph Room. Contact Ellen Bollard for more details.

  • RCIA for Children

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is not just for adults. RCIA is also for children who will be age 7 or older by Easter and are interested in joining the Catholic Community through Baptism, First Communion and other sacraments.

We tailor the process and instruction for each group of children with most of the instruction done virtually each week at an agreed time. Some children attending ASB School have special instruction with one of our teachers after school once a week. The program we follow matches the topics that the adults are using at a child or teen level.

Contact Ellen Bollard to learn more.
