Safe Environment Training
Safe Environment—Called to Protect for Ministries
In 2007-2008 the Archdiocese of Seattle instituted a comprehensive program to provide a safe environment for children and vulnerable adults. This program includes various training programs for employees, volunteers and students. The training for adults is Called to Protect. It is required of all Catholic employees and all volunteers who have unsupervised interaction with children and vulnerable adults.
Are you REQUIRED to attend the training?
· School parents who volunteer to work in the classroom, drive on field trips or volunteer to work with students
· Coaches and assistants for any CYO sports
· All school and parish employees
· Parish volunteers who work in the Atrium, Youth Group or make home visits.
The training takes between 2& 3 hours, depending on the presenter and the length of questions and answers. Training can be done at Assumption or at any other parish/school in the archdiocese.
To register or to find additional sessions:
1. Go to the Archdiocese of Seattle website: www.seattlearch.org

After completion of the class you will receive a certificate. Please print it and send it to the parish and or school office.
Prayer, the lifting of the mind and heart to God, plays an essential role in the life of a Catholic. Without a life of prayer, we risk losing the life of grace in our souls, grace that comes to us first in baptism and later chiefly through the other sacraments and through prayer itself (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2565). Through prayer we enter into the presence of the Godhead dwelling in us. It is prayer which allows us to know God, by acknowledging his almighty power; it is prayer that allows us to bring our thanks, our petitions, and our sorrows before our Lord and God.
