Lectors read the scriptures, prayers of the faithful and announcements at Mass. Lectors may start when they enter High School. Lectors should be comfortable speaking in front of a group, have effective microphone skills, careful enunciation and correct pronunciation and be able to convey enthusiasm.

Requirements for a lector:
• a deep reverence for the Word of God
• careful preparation beforehand so that the Word is proclaimed in a fitting manner
• arrive at the church 15 minutes ahead of time.
• ability to be present at assigned times or find a suitable placement.
